TUCKER (now available for adoption)
Here is his story........
This boy was found on Enterprise Rd. in Kay County, OK. He was struggling on the side of the road, when he caught the attention of someone as they were driving by. He was VERY emaciated, dehydrated, and it was obvious that he was in severe pain.
|
He was rushed to the vet, where he was looked over. He was hospitalized and monitored while building up a little bit of strength.
Once we knew that he was eating and drinking well on his own. We then moved on to the goal of finding out what was causing him to hurt so bad.
We had X-rays performed. They are difficult to look at. Not one, but BOTH hips are in HORRIBLE condition. Tucker will need at least 2 FHO* operations. One after the first one has healed.

12/30/2013 UPDATE
Tucker has had his first surgery and is doing VERY well. His second surgery is scheduled soon. Unfortunately, it does look like another (3rd) surgery will be needed. As he is beginning to feel better, his personality is shining more. Amazingly, he is a carefree, silly boy.

1/15/2013 UPDATE
Tucker is doing really well. He has had his second FHO (hip) surgery now. He was agitated by it and did start tearing at his stitches but he is healing now with one of those, very annoying, yet effective vet cones.
03/04/2014 UPDATE
So sorry that there has been such a lag in updates. It has been raining cats and dogs everywhere
.....and then there is Tucker. He is doing WONDERFUL! He is blossoming into such an amazing dog. We are still needing to use some pretty heavy duty pain meds but he is building up his muscles in his back legs everyday. Tucker can sit, stay, shake, roll over andcatch treats like a champion!! He will soon be up for adoption. Hopefully, it is all uphill from here.
5/14/2014 UPDATE
There is an emaciated, injured dog where?? Not here..that is for sure. Tucker is now 25 pounds heavier, has new hips, gets around painlessly and LOVES people and other dogs.
This update is from his foster mom and, I promise you, that if there were not so many other dogs needing a foster home, he would be staying with us. We realize that his family is out there somewhere looking for a new family member. This is THE family member for THEM. If you are looking for a sweet natured boy who has had a rough life (but has now forgotten it). Tucker is then the dog for you. Medically, he is taking a dosage of glucosamine (which is actually a very routine joint supplement for dogs and for people). We could never have imagined he would have came this far. It has been a long road to recovery but he has been worth the entire ride.
Tucker is completely current on his vetting. He has been neutered, had all vaccinations, he is heartworm negative and on preventative, and he is parasite free. To apply to adopt Tucker, apply at www.pawfirst.com. His adoption fee is $150 to the right family :)
